Apple Is Engaged On A Reconfigurable Keyboard For Macbook


Eventually you get used to things, after which going back the other way feels “off.” Reading this, I stupidly pictured a bodily key&keyhole and thought that might be cool, and fun to fidget with at least. But then I appeared [] and they imply a “key” as on a keyboard. Should be a minimal of as enjoyable as giving Apple my fingerprints though. All of the models have keys dedicated to Spotlight, Dictation, Do Not Disturb and Emoji (I ended up disabling the latter on mine, as a result of I couldn’t avoid unintended presses 🙁🙁).

DNS is managed in three completely different locations, differently, with practical overlaps. It does not appear to assist the advanced routing I’m used to in linux. Apple’s management of pf is a fucking nightmare, and must you want special rules to handle a VM over your VPN or some such, be prepared to hate your life. OTOH, Linux — particularly systemd — has been moving principally TOWARDS the macOS model. Probably the best value of any laptop I actually have ever bought. Sure Macs with the M1 chip could have the OS setup to use that function, but what is basically stopping a Windows Driver from utilizing it.

Slightly bigger or not, those silly half-height up/down arrow keys are the stupidest concept I’ve ever seen for laptops.

There is a variety of mechanical keyboards, with completely different really feel and sound profiles. I guess we ought to be happy they did not elevate the worth. Back (~15 years ago) when I first switched to Macs, I remember how many little issues threw me off. I purchased a program that changed the mouse acceleration to be more windows-like.
